Sonaisali, Fiji - Travel Diary

In May this year, my partner and I jetted off on our first International Holiday together (and first holiday pre-pandemic) to Sonaisali Island in Fiji for a week.

The aim of this holiday was purely to relax and decompress after two manic years of global chaos and hustling to get both of our businesses off the ground while also working other jobs to keep the bills paid on time. Most of our time was spent by the pool, eating, reading, and taking in the views from Hilton Fiji’s DoubleTree Resort.

This was my fourth visit to Fiji, but my first to this divine spot just off from Viti Levu. The whole resort is set up for uninterrupted views of the Mamanuca Islands, which were highlighted by the setting sun every day of our stay and made the perfect backdrop to all the relaxing we did during our stay. And as with all my experiences in Fiji, the resort team was filled with incredible people who’s kindness radiated.

On Day Four, we ventured out on our only tour for a day of sailing the Mamanuca Islands with a stop off on the privately owned Schooner Island for snorkelling, swimming, and lunch. This is a trip I had done 12 years ago with my family and while the island has had some facility upgrades since I last visited, it was still an excellent way to spend the day.

I hope you enjoy the photo diary of our time below.
