Leather Jackets Three Ways.

I've always been a fan of classic pieces and the leather jacket really is a wardrobe staple. I got my first leather jacket two years ago when my parents bought me the one you can see above while they were in South America. Leather was insanely cheap over there and as soon as they realised both my brother and I received a jacket each. I've always loved the slightly biker feel and found it easy to dress up or down but ever since I got my second jacket at the Queen Victoria Markets in Melbourne last year I've found that I gravitate one way or the other depending on my look.

When you look at a menu all good things come in threes right? The trio of desserts, fries three ways, three burger sliders and so on. I'd say styling advice is the same too! And really I'll take any excuse to pull these babies out, so welcome to my guide to styling a leather jacket three ways. Disclaimer - there is no jeans and tee because thats just too obvious.

Look 1

Casual enough to wear to lunch but just enough to wear to dinner is probably the best way to describe my favourite sort of looks. I love an outfit I can spend my entire day in and that is why I love the leather jacket so much. It's the perfect thing to throw on while heading out the door.

You guys have seen these jeans a couple of times on the blog now and honestly I never knew I would love a distressed hem as much as I do. It gives the perfect amount of undone to any look and when you pair it with a biker style jacket it begins to feel kinda bad-ass.

This shirt helps keep it a bit more feminine because it gives a good bit of sleeve detail. And as my mother is always telling me I need a pop of colour sometimes (don't tell her I said that). But still I love some good black accessories and having black shoes, bag and jacket really feels like it pulls it all together.

Look 2

Meet the second jacket in my collection. When I first got this one I was a little bit iffy on whether I liked it or not. I was at the Queen Victoria Markets with my parents in Melbourne and Mum had found the exact same stall she bought her leather jacket from a few years earlier.

Originally both my parents and the stall holder where trying to convince me into getting a green or dark brown jacket and while I liked both I just couldn't do it. By this stage mum and dad had offered to purchase it for me because I had already spent a heap on my trip there and by the time I agreed to getting the black I was feeling a bit better.

The thing that always worried me the most was that it doesn't have a real collar so it felt like more of a bomber jacket at first. Which I know I've never suited. But here we are a year later and I reach for it more than my first one.

It has the cut of a casual blazer which makes it so easy to dress up and the leather itself is significantly lighter. This is my go to to pair back with a dress like this one because it never feels too heavy or too edgy. It really suits the vibe of any look you are going for.

So far I've found this one much easier to pair back with lighter coloured accessories too. It still toughens up feminine details but I always enjoy adding pink and gold details. These lattice heels are the perfect blend of both with a rose gold heel at the back. Actually speaking of rose I feel like the only thing missing is a glass of rose in my hand... I think I just found my Sunday afternoon drinks outfit!

Look 3

Now this look is one I've been wanting to put together for FOREVER. I actually bought these pants for my final university internship but they were so close to sold out they arrived at my house from the last store stocking them the day after I flew to Sydney. Then by the time I'd bought this jacket I'd been going to the gym too much and couldn't get the zip done up over my butt. When I realised this week that they fit me again it was both a happy and sad moment because I could finally wear them but also it showed just how flat it has become again. TMI? Oh well.

This is my ultimate work outfit. If I was working in an office I would literally find as many ways of wearing these pants with this jacket as I could. I'm not kidding I would switch out the top and shoes until someone called me out and then probably a few more times after that.

And the chambray culottes, cream knit and leather jacket texture combination? Now those are the sorts of details I love in an outfit. The only way I can think to improve that combination is a little lace cuff peaking out from my sleeves.

Textures are my favourite thing to play with and with Brisbane's mild weather I never get to enough because days off never require more than one layer.

So there you have it lovelies! My three ways of styling leather jackets that aren't just a tee and jeans. I would love to know what you think of each look in the comments below and which is your favourite! Unfortunately this post isn't very shoppabl…

Unfortunately this post isn't very shoppable as it was built out of my existing wardrobe but I hope it gives you plenty of inspiration on what to keep an eye out for yourselves.
