Cosy but Corporate.
I’ve worked in swim retail for a long time now, so my wardrobe is pretty beachy. I have a few pieces which would easily translate to an office but having only done two office internships these are pretty few and far between. My wardrobe is probably 80% sleeveless tops, sun dresses and playsuits with a smattering of knits and two jeans I live in during winter. I hate cold weather, so I often refer to this as my hibernation because I go from having fun with my wardrobe to living in a uniform of knits, jeans and when at home whatever blanket is closest. But I started this blog to experiment with my wardrobe, so I am stepping out this year and changing it up a bit.
Now full disclosure, all of this outfit is at least a year old. You might’ve seen on my story I took my friend who took these shots to breakfast and one of the waitresses asked me if I’d also picked this jumper up recently on clearance sale. The answer was no – I paid full price about a year ago – but it has been so worth it because this knit is like wearing a super soft blanket. This is a major requirement any knits I buy must tick especially after a few years ago I decided I wanted to get knits to wear in place of warmer tops. I also picked this skirt up on sale at the end of January last year and these shoes have been a favourite for nearly two years now.
I’ve never really found many “winter shirts” that I like, I tend to find longer sleeved shirts a little boring. Making this change to only purchasing knitwear worked really well. I do have a few that fit much closer to the body, but I love a good boxy knit. This one is actually an XXS because it was so oversized I decided to go down two sizes so it didn’t look too massive. Even though the wind goes through them much easier than a closer fitting knit, I find boxy knits extra cosy because it feels a bit like you are being enveloped in warmth.
Putting it back with a skirt gave me this nice balance of comfort and ended up being better than I thought. I have a few more skirts like this one which will definitely get more wear now this year. And for once I might not run out of jeans on washing day.
