Homey comforts

We purchased our home in one of the peaks of the post COVID boom and were lucky to find a recently renovated home that we could move into and not need to think about any major changes. Having lived together for four years now, we have had the chance to slowly build a collection of pieces that helped make moving into a new space feel like home even sooner.

Over the past couple of years we had slowly been swapping out some of our old inherited furniture for pieces that suited our style and needs better, and we have started collecting more decor that have added personal, homey touches. We were able to settle in straight away and focus on other things, an immediate effect but one that was years in the making.

Building this slowly over time allowed us to work within a smaller budget that suited both of our lower income jobs that were also working overtime to help get new businesses off the ground. And much of our furniture has been purchased second hand from Facebook Marketplace, where we also sold a lot of the items they replaced to help pay for the new to us pieces. Add in some well planned sales shopping, and we have built ourselves a home that feels unique to us and is filled with little pockets of visual joy.
